The Shameka's Angels foundation was created in memory of Shameka Jones.
Born in San Antonio, TX on October 24, 1975; Shameka Jones began her journey through life. Shameka was the second of five children born to Charles and Beverly Johnson. They worked very hard to raise their five children the best they could. It was from Charles and Beverly that Shameka learned much of her punctuality.
On March 1, 1992 Shameka gave birth to her only child; her pride and joy Shanequa Jones. She enjoyed motherhood and yearned to raise her child to be all that she could dream to be. Wherever you saw Shameka her daughter was right there by her side. They had a bond that could not be broken.
Shameka attended Judson High School in Converse, TX and worked at various stores inside Windsor Park Mall. Her dependability and responsibility were proven attributes exhibited by her employment at Dillard’s Department Store.
In 1994 Shameka tested positive for HIV but would not let her circumstance or situation stop her from living life. She loved spending time with her family and eating at one of her favorite fast food place, Jack in the Box. However, most of all she had the ability to put a smile on everyone’s face she came in contact with because she would give you the shirt off her back. Many things made Shameka so fun to be around. Shameka would fall for any practical joke you played on her. As a matter of fact, she was considered to be the scariest child out of all her siblings.
On April 21, 2003 Shameka passed away. A week before she passed away she shared that “she was going to live for God”. Now she is not only living for God but living with God. We will miss her delightful candor and we will always remember the wonderful times we had with her. We loved her but God loved her more.
